How to do it
- Step 1: Setup — Stand in front of a step bench, with your right foot on the step and your left foot on the ground.
- Step 2: Initiation — Engage your core and lower back muscles, then step up onto the bench with your left foot.
- Step 3: Mid-phase — Quickly and explosively step up onto the bench, extending your hips and lower back.
- Step 4: End-position — Hold the top position for a brief moment, then slowly lower your left foot back down to the starting position.
- Step 5: Return — Repeat the process on the other side, focusing on explosive power and proper form.
- Step 6: Breathing and rhythm reminder — Focus on exhaling during the step-up and inhaling during the descent, maintaining a consistent rhythm.
- Step 7: Safety note — Avoid using momentum to propel yourself upwards, as this can put unnecessary strain on your lower back and joints.
