How to do it
- Step 1: Setup — lie on an incline bench with your feet planted on the floor and hold a dumbbell overhead with both hands.
- Step 2: Initiation — engage your core and maintain a neutral spine.
- Step 3: Main movement — lift your torso off the bench, keeping the dumbbell overhead, and squeeze your glutes and lower back muscles.
- Step 4: End position — hold the contraction for a brief moment and then slowly lower your torso back to the starting position.
- Step 5: Return — control the descent and avoid arching your back or losing core engagement.
- Step 6: Breathing reminder — exhale on extension and inhale on return.
- Step 7: Safety note — avoid using too much weight and focus on proper form and technique.
