Ingredients
- 150 g All-purpose flour
- 100 g Shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 80 g Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
- 3–4 tbsp Cold water
- ½ tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Paprika or herbs (optional)
Method
- In food processor or bowl, combine flour + salt + optional paprika/herbs → pulse or stir.
- Add cold cubed butter → pulse or cut in until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add shredded cheese → pulse briefly to incorporate.
- Add cold water 1 tbsp at a time → pulse/mix until dough just comes together (do not overmix).
- Form dough into disc → wrap in plastic → refrigerate 30–60 minutes to firm.
- Preheat oven to 190 °C (375 °F) → roll dough on floured surface to 2–3 mm thick → cut into squares or shapes with knife or cutter.
- Place on parchment-lined baking sheet → prick with fork to prevent puffing → bake 10–15 minutes until golden and crisp (watch closely to avoid burning).
- Cool on wire rack → store in airtight container up to 1 week — crispy, cheesy homemade crackers.
