Ingredients
- 2–3 kg (yields ≈500–800 ml oil) Castor beans (Ricinus communis seeds)
Method
- Caution: Castor beans are highly toxic (ricin) — handle only hulled/processed beans from reputable source. Do not eat beans.
- Clean and dry hulled castor seeds thoroughly.
- Use cold-press oil extractor/machine → feed seeds slowly → collect oil (first press is purest).
- If no press: grind seeds to coarse meal → place in cheesecloth → press firmly (use hydraulic press or heavy weight) → collect oil.
- Let oil sit 24–48 hours → sediment settles → decant clear oil into dark glass bottle → filter through coffee filter if needed.
- Store in cool dark place up to 2 years (castor oil is very stable).
- Makes 400–700 ml — thick, viscous homemade castor oil for hair growth, skin moisturizer, or laxative use (consult doctor).
