Ingredients
- 200 g (from 2–3 large leaves) Fresh aloe vera gel (from leaf)
- 500 ml Carrier oil (olive, jojoba, or sweet almond oil)
- 1 tsp Vitamin E oil (optional preservative)
Method
- Harvest fresh aloe vera leaves → wash thoroughly → slice off outer green skin with sharp knife to expose clear gel.
- Scoop out gel → rinse under cold water to remove any yellow latex (aloin) → pat dry → chop gel into small pieces.
- Place chopped aloe gel in clean glass jar → pour carrier oil over gel until fully submerged (gel should be covered by at least 1 cm oil).
- Seal jar → place in sunny window or warm spot (not direct hot sun) → let infuse 2–4 weeks, shaking daily.
- Alternative quick method: heat oil + aloe gel in double boiler on low (40–50 °C) 2–3 hours → do not exceed 50 °C to preserve nutrients.
- Strain infused oil through fine cheesecloth or coffee filter → squeeze gel to extract maximum oil → discard solids.
- Add vitamin E oil → stir → pour into dark glass bottle.
- Store in cool dark place up to 6–12 months (refrigerate for longer shelf life).
- Use for skin moisturizer, hair treatment, massage, or as base for salves — soothing, hydrating homemade aloe vera oil.
