Ingredients

  • 1 liter Water (filtered or distilled)
  • 80–100 g (adjust for sweetness) Granulated sugar or dextrose
  • 320–400 mg (≈80–100 mg per 250 ml serving) Caffeine powder (food-grade, anhydrous)
  • 4 g Taurine powder (food-grade)
  • 4–6 g Citric acid
  • 1–2 g (for pH balance) Sodium citrate or baking soda
  • as per label (typical 100–200% DV per serving) B-vitamins (B3, B6, B12 liquid drops or powder)
  • 1–2 tsp Natural flavoring (lemon/lime extract or fruit essence)
  • soda siphon + CO2 cartridge OR club soda Carbonation method

Method

  1. In a large jug, dissolve sugar/dextrose in 500 ml warm water (stir until completely dissolved).
  2. Add caffeine powder, taurine, citric acid, sodium citrate, B-vitamins, and flavoring → stir very well (caffeine dissolves slowly).
  3. Add remaining 500 ml cold water → stir → taste and adjust: more sugar for sweeter, more citric acid for tartness.
  4. pH should be around 3.5–4.0 (test with strips if possible – too low = too sour, too high = flat taste).
  5. Chill mixture in fridge at least 2 hours (cold liquid holds carbonation better).
  6. Carbonate: Pour chilled base into soda siphon → charge with CO2 cartridge → shake well → chill again 30 min.
  7. Alternative: mix 3 parts base + 1 part club soda just before drinking (less consistent fizz).
  8. Serve over ice — homemade energy drink similar to Red Bull/Monster taste profile (adjust caffeine/taurine to match desired strength).
  9. Caution: Do NOT exceed 400 mg caffeine per liter (100 mg per 250 ml serving) — consult doctor if unsure about caffeine tolerance.
  10. Store base refrigerated up to 5–7 days — carbonate only what you drink fresh.
