Ingredients
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 tsp Yeast
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 1 cup Jam or Cream
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, egg, milk, and butter, mixing until a dough forms, then knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (180°C), then punch down the dough and use a cookie scoop or a spoon to drop the dough into the oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the doughnuts for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through, then remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- While the doughnuts are still warm, fill them with your chosen filling, such as jam or cream, by injecting it into the doughnut using a pastry bag or a plastic bag with a corner cut off.
- Dust the doughnuts with powdered sugar and serve immediately, or let them cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
