Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 cup Evaporated milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F, then butter a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and sugar, then set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat butter until creamy, about 2 minutes, then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, alternating with evaporated milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture, beating just until combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and smooth top, then bake until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, 25–30 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. While cake is cooling, prepare tres leches mixture by whisking together heavy cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  8. Once cake is completely cool, use a skewer to poke holes all over top of cake, then pour tres leches mixture evenly over top of cake, making sure cake absorbs all of mixture.
  9. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight, then serve chilled.
