- 1 tsp Methi seeds
- 1 large Onion
- 2 inches Ginger
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- 1 tsp Salt
Method
- Rinse 2 cups of rice and 1 cup of urad dal, then soak them in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until they are soft and have broken down.
- Drain and grind the rice and urad dal into a smooth batter, using a blender or food processor, adding water as needed to achieve the right consistency.
- Add 1 teaspoon of methi seeds, 1 large diced onion, 2 inches of grated ginger, and 3 cloves of minced garlic to the batter and stir to combine, then add 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt and stir to combine.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil, once hot, pour a small amount of the batter onto the skillet and spread it out into a thin circle, about 6-8 inches in diameter.
- Cook the dosa for 2-3 minutes, until the bottom is lightly browned, then flip it over and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until the other side is lightly browned.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter, until all of the dosas are cooked, then serve them hot with your favorite chutney or sambar.
