Ingredients

  • 4 Large fresh eggs
  • enough to cover eggs by 2–3 cm Water
  • 1 tsp (optional, helps prevent cracking) Salt or white vinegar

Method

  1. Place eggs gently into a saucepan (room temperature eggs are best to avoid cracking).
  2. Cover with cold water by about 2–3 cm → add salt or vinegar if desired.
  3. Bring to a full rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  4. As soon as water is boiling, start timer for 8 minutes (for jammy center) or 9 minutes (mostly set but still creamy).
  5. While eggs cook, prepare a large bowl of ice water.
  6. When timer finishes, immediately transfer eggs to ice bath using a slotted spoon.
  7. Let cool 3–5 minutes → gently tap each egg on counter to crack shell all over → roll gently → peel under cool running water (shell should slip off easily).
  8. Cut in half to reveal jammy yolk → season with salt & pepper if eating plain.
  9. Best used same day — perfect for ramen, salads, avocado toast, or grain bowls.
