Ingredients
- 2 chopped Onions
- 4 chopped Tomatoes
- 2 diced Mixed bell peppers
- 1 × 400 g can Baked beans (canned)
- 2 tbsp Curry powder
- 1–2 tsp Chili flakes or fresh chili
- 3 cloves minced Garlic
- 3 tbsp Olive oil
- to taste Salt & sugar
Method
- Heat oil → sauté onions until soft → add garlic → cook 1 min.
- Add bell peppers → cook 5 min → add tomatoes + curry powder + chili → cook 10 min until saucy.
- Add baked beans (with liquid) → simmer 10–15 min → season with salt & sugar.
- Taste & adjust: more chili for heat, more sugar to balance acidity.
- Cool → store refrigerated up to 1 week.
- Serve warm or cold with braai (BBQ), pap, bread — spicy South African chakalaka relish.
