Ingredients
- 250–300 g Fish fillet or fish head/steak (bangus, tilapia or snapper)
- 1–1½ tbsp Sinigang mix powder (tamarind soup base)
- ½ medium (quartered) Onion
- 1 medium (quartered) Tomato
- 100 g Green beans or kangkong
- 100 g (sliced) Daikon radish
- 1–2 tbsp Fish sauce (patis)
- 700–800 ml Water
- 1–2 pieces (optional) Green chili (siling mahaba)
Method
- In small pot, bring water to boil → add onion, tomato, daikon and green chili.
- Simmer 5–7 min until vegetables start softening.
- Add sinigang mix and fish sauce → stir until dissolved.
- Add fish → simmer gently 6–10 min until fish is cooked (do not overcook).
- Add green beans or kangkong → cook 2–3 min until crisp-tender.
- Taste → adjust sourness (more sinigang mix) or saltiness (more patis).
- Serve hot in deep bowl with steamed rice on the side.
