Ingredients
- 4 pieces Fish cake
- 2 Boiled egg
- 1 Daikon radish
- 1 block Konnyaku
- 4 cups Dashi broth
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Sake
- 1 tbsp Mirin
Method
- Prepare dashi broth according to the package instructions, then set aside.
- In a large pot, combine dashi broth, soy sauce, sake, and mirin, then bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add fish cake, boiled egg, daikon radish, and konnyaku to the pot, then cook until the daikon is tender, about 10-15 minutes.
- Skim any foam that rises to the surface, then reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, or until the flavors have melded together.
- Serve the oden hot, garnished with grated ginger and a sprinkle of green onions, if desired.
- To make the dipping sauce, mix together soy sauce, sake, and mirin in a small bowl, then serve on the side.
- For an extra touch, add a few slices of yuzu to the pot during the last 5 minutes of cooking, or use as a garnish.
