Ingredients
- 500g Chicken breast
- 1 large Onion
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 4 pieces Pita bread
- 1/2 cup Tahini sauce
- 2 medium Tomato
- 1 medium Cucumber
- 1/4 cup Pickles
Method
- Marinate the chicken breast in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, and spices for at least 30 minutes, then grill or cook in a skillet until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add the onion and cook stirring occasionally until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant, then stir in the tahini sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Warm the pita bread by wrapping it in foil and heating it in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes, then slice it in half and fill with the cooked chicken, onion, tomato, cucumber, and pickles.
- Serve the shawarma hot, garnished with fresh parsley or cilantro, and enjoy with the creamy tahini sauce and crunchy vegetables.
- Assemble the shawarma just before serving, and consider adding other toppings such as sumac or feta cheese for extra flavor and texture.
- To make the tahini sauce, combine tahini paste, lemon juice, garlic, and water in a bowl, and stir until smooth, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
